During this very difficult period in our Nation's history, it should comfort us to know that there are still plenty of good-hearted folks around - people from many diverse backgrounds have made up the VACC Camp community since it's start in the mid-1980's, and continue to do so even today. Even in the darkest of moments there have always been accounts of those who were willing to lend a hand when others needed help. When we find ourselves becoming discouraged at the state of today's world, let us not forget mankind's potential to do good is greater than his potential to do harm - VACC Camp has brought out the good in hundreds of volunteers who decided to make the world a better place for everyone! |

Miami Children's Hospital VACC Camp is held each April in Miami, Florida and hosts families from around the United States, as well as families from Miami-Dade and surrounding south Florida counties.
Since the mid 1980's, Miami Children's Hospital VACC Camp has been host to hundreds of ventilator-dependent children and their families from around the country, providing them with a week-long therapeutic camp experience that is remembered for years to come! |

The VACC Camp staff has it's origins within the Pediatric Pulmonology Division at
Miami Children's Hospital, and all
disciplines within the department are available on-site during the camp session. In addition, a staff of teen and adult volunteers provide invaluable assistance to many of the camp's programs.
After a two year hiatus, VACC Camp returned to Miami-Dade County's
A.D. Barnes Therapeutic Park in
April, 1998, with it's full compliment of therapeutic activities for ventilator-
dependent children from
pre-school to high school age.
Some the many scheduled VACC Camp activities are:
- medically supervised water activities in the camp's handicapped-accessible pool
- arts and crafts activities lead by
Miami Children's Hospital
Child-Life Specialists
- special guest visitors
- staff-accompanied field trips
- Parent's night out acitivites
- carnival night
