Les diamants du Bled el Mass (Touat) : contexte géologique

Résumé
Quelques diamants ont été trouvés en divers points d'Algérie. C'est dans le Quaternaire ancien de la région de Reggane que se situe le placer le plus important. Après en avoir analysé les différentes origines possibles les auteurs situent dans le temps les différents horizons où ont pu se former des concentrations primaires au Crétacé. La région-source la plus probable se trouverait sur le craton ouest-africain, mais l'Archéen du Hoggar occidental ne doit pas être éliminé.

Bled el Mass diamonds : geological context
Abstract
A few diamonds have been found in various regions of Algeria. The only noticeable site is in Quaternary deposits around Reggane, southwest Algeria. In the first part, the authors describe the context of each discoveries and they analyze their different possible areas of origin. In a second part, they describe the environment of the Reggane placer and try to situate in Time the different Cretaceous layers in which primary concentration is the most probable. The most likely sources could be on the West African Craton, notwithstanding the western Hoggar Archean belt.
