Mineralogy,
geochemistry and metallogeny of Kherzet Youcef Pb-Zn deposit
Abstract
This
study has been devoted especially to put forward the mecanisms of the stratified
metaliferous accumulations within the metalloqenic zone of Hodna. Pb-Zn deposit
of Kherzet Youcef has been retained to be the purpose of deep scrutiny and to
serve as reference pattern.
The uniqueness of this work has been to characterise the ore and its to
untry rocks with all the geological, mineralogical and geochemical aspects. A
peculiar attention has been devoted to the study of the dolomies - sulfurs -
organic matters; favourable trilogy, a priori, to the mineral concentration.
The mineralized zone of the Labiod Hadjar massif is, almost,
characterised by the proximity of two types mineralizations (veinous in the
carbonated series of Ain El Kahla Lias and stratiform in those of Kherzet Youcef
Barremian).
The structural peculiarities and sedimentary rocks composition have,
largely, conditioned the formation of the stratiform Pb-Zn mineralization, clay
rocks playing the screen role, whereas organic matter formed a favourable
environment to the sulfur-formation in the carbonated rocks.
The analysis of the all geological, mineralogical and geochemical (isotopy,
fluid inclusion, geothermo-barometry) data has let to retain a
hydrothermal-metasomatic hypothesis origin for Kherzet Youcef deposit and its
formation within the dolomitic series with a sulfatous reduction by the organic
matter.
