History of the MCHS Ice Cream Social.....The Mercer County Historical Society Board met on August 2, 1977 to plan the first Annual Ice Cream Social to be held the fourth Friday in the month of August...5:00 - 7:30 pm lunch with a program at 8:00 o'clock. Mr and Mrs Chuck Sloan were Chairmen.The first menu consisted of steamburgers which last until 7 o'clock.They were out the last hour . Suggestion was made that they have ham sandwiches and hot dogs. Each township would contribute pies and cakes. It has been a great success.

Mrs. Cameron conducted tours through the School house; Mrs. Finch and Mrs. Parks helped in the Museum. Mrs. Bladwin was relief operator. [Necessary for all guest to sign the register.]
