The Apollo Project was like no other. They wanted to explore the moon and other planets, become the leader in space exploration and know if it's possible for humans to work in space |

The new thing Apollo brought was its new shuttle design with three areas: the living quarters, the control section and the lunar module. Now there could be three men in space at one time. |
|
|
|
During the times of Febuary 26, 1966 and April 4, 1968 there were the first unmanned Apollo missions testing out the shuttles and making sure everything would be safe for the crew. |

|
|
The first Apollo manned mission was a tragedy when Virgil Grissom, Edward White and Roger Chaffee were engoulfed in a fire during a pre-flight test on January 27, 1967. The three were killed. After this another unmanned mision was sent up to make sure the astronauts would be as safe as possible. |

|
|
|
|
Apollo VII was the first manned Apollo mission to reach space and thats where they spent the next ten days after their launch on October 11, 1968. They were to test out all the functions and features the craft had. During the flight the three members, Donne Eisele, Wally Schirra and Walt Cunnigham. They were on live TV and large amounts of people tuned in. |

Apollo VIII manned by Frank Borman, William Anders, and James Lovell were to take pictures of the moon and possible landing spots on December 21, 1968 when they were launched. They had live TV spots and took pictures of the moon and earth. |

Apollo IX manned by James McDivitt, Russel Schweickart, and David Scott was launched March 3, 1969. They were to dock and perform crew transfers but they were only able to complete half the objectives because Schweickart got sick. |

Apollo X manned by Thomas Stafferd, Eugene Cernan, and John Young was launched on May 18, 1969. Their objectives were to practice the lunar landing pad and on another note they had the first color live TV broadcast from space. |
|

|
Apollo XI manned by Neil Armstrong, Edwin Aldrin and Michael Collins waslaunched July 16, 1969. They were to land on the moon and gather rock samples and then they took the first steps on the moon. This mission was surely a success. |

Apollo XII manned by Alan Bean, Charles Conrad, and Richard Gordon launched Novmeber 14, 1969. They were to land perfectly on the moon and return safe and they did just that after being in space 10 days. |

Apollo XIII manned by James Lovelle, Fred Haise, and John Swigert was launched April 11, 1970. Their objectives were to land on the moon but there was an explosion and could only watch it as they flew past. They lost their air and it became cold. They lost power on and off but after the longest 5 days in their lives, the crew made it home safely. |

Apollo XIV manned by Alan Shepard, Edgar Mitchell, and Stuart Roosa was launched January 31, 1971. Their objective was to explore and unexplored part of the moon. They used a hand cart to transfer the rocks and spent 9 days in space. |

Apollo XV manned by David Scott, James Irwin, and Alfred Worden was launched July 26, 1971 and for the first time the Lunar Rover was used. The crew also left a small satelite behind. |

Apollo XVI manned by John Young, Charles Duke, and Thomas Mattingly II was launched April 16, 1972. They were in space 11 days and explored the terrain of the moon. |
|
|
|

Apollo XVI manned Eugene Cernan, Harrison Schmitt, and Ronald Evans by was launched December 17, 1972. They went up for 12 days to see the weight limit the shuttle had and explore some of the remaining parts of the moon.This was the last Apollo mission. |
