Lawrence McKnight
I was born on Feb. 21, 1978 in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. I am the son of Retired Master Sergeant (E-8) Obie Ray McKnight who has given the United States Army 27 years.  Being the son of a careered enlisted man has many advantages contrary to popular belief. I've had the pleasure of living in New Jersey, Japan, Korea, Kansas, and of course Arkansas. I recieved my High School diploma at Jacksonville High School in Jacksonville, Arkansas on May 1996.  I attended the University of Central Arkansas on a Soccer Scholarship and after my first year I joined the United States Army Reserve.  While in the reserve, I was shipped to Guatemala giving medical relief as a medic, to the people of the country due to hurricane Mitch.. My unit and I  have been awarded the Humanitary Award for this assissignment. I served the military for four years and had advanced up to the rank of Sergeant (E-5) as a Orthopedic Specialist.  While in the U.S. Army Reserves, I went to the University of Arkansas Little Rock to finish up my college education.  I joined Omega Psi Phi fraternity Inc. in Spring 2002 Pi Kappa Chapter and I earned my B.A. in History in Fall 2003. I figure my degree in history establishes my creditability in the research of my Family Tree. I also attented the United States Marine Corps Officer Canididate School in 2001 and 2003, which prevented me from getting shipped off to the middle east during the Iraq war. I left the program due to a medical injury and now I am currently in the Baptist Health School of Nursing and completing my family history.

An inspiring poem that a relative found.
Your Name

You got form your father
It was all he had to give
So It's yours to use and cherish
for as long as you live.

If you lose the watch he gave you
It can always be replaced
but a black mark on your name, son
Can never be erased.

It was clean the day you took it
And a worthy name to bear
When he got it form his father
There was no dishonor there.

So make sure you guard it wisely
After all is said and done
You'll be glad the name is spotless
when you give it to your son.
