McLEAN COUNTY HISTORY & GENEALOGY NEWS

         The Museum organization has come up with 53 so-called McLean County history subjects.  The Museum is seeking old, previously written – small, medium, or large – write-ups, audios, videos about any of these subjects.  This is an on-going, permanent museum project.
        The 53 subjects are:
        The river transportation industry; Livermore Chair Factories; the locks and dams at Calhoun, Livermore, and Rumsey; the L&N Railroad in Livermore; farming and farmers in McLean County; roads and road building in McLean County; towns and communities in McLean County; crude oil operations; major floods, especially 1937; the river bridges at Calhoun/Rumsey and Livermore; McLean County sports activities; labor union activities in McLean; doctors and nurses, either born in McLean or have lived here; county undertakers; biographies or mentions of county managers, judge-executives, commissioners, and county executives; golf and golf courses; law enforcement and personnel; post offices, postmasters/mistresses; county attorneys, county court clerks, county surveyors, judges and magistrates; black families in McLean County; banks, bankers, and banking; unusual occupations or businesses; the McLean County coal industry; old homes, houses, and buildings; prized, special, show, hot rod, old, or antique cars, trucks, or tractors; attorneys and the legal profession; pharmacies, pharmacists, and drug stores; blacksmith and farriers of McLean; great and near-great story tellers; history and write-ups of McLean County newspapers; history of churches; McLean County education; state senators and delegates after 1853; old high school year books; McLean County business; dramas and plays, actors and actresses, musical groups and individuals; cheerleaders of McLean County schools; youth activities; pilots/navigators/crew members and flyers; memories of McLean County military and civilians in World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Cold War, Desert Storm, Kosovo, Afghanistan, or other conflicts; fishing, hunting and trapping; history of the McLean County Fair and its officers; pleasure boating in McLean County; McLean Countians in the CCCs; arts and artists; 1930s Depression era; cemetery records; activities of civic organizations such as the Lions Club, VFW, American Legion, etc.; copies of Ken Ward’s stories published in the McLean County news; ministers, priests, nuns, and church volunteers; logging and timber industry; names of mayors, city attorneys, town officials, town officers and communities.
