| THE SEA SHACK: In my debut novel I tried to honor my grandfather by writing the story of Andy O'Brien. Andy is a young boy who believes his life is perfect, until he learns he must spend a summer with his grandfather on the shores of Cape Cod. Andy rebels against this plan, certain it will ruin his summer, and he vows to make the experience a miserable one for everyone. What he doesn't know, however, is that "Grampy" has plans of his own. If he has things his way, this will be a summer that will change both their lives forever... This story is one filled with humor, real emotion, and important lessons we all learn in life. It was written on the premise that novels for young readers should entertain and promote strong values at the same time. I have enjoyed many positive reviews from children and adults alike and I certainly hope you enjoy it too! |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "This book teaches many life lessons and sometimes it made me laugh and the ending almost made me cry. If you went to my fourth grade class you'd find out it is the most magnificent book I think you'll ever read. It really made a difference in my life." - Amelia, age 10 San Jose, CA (from Mercury Daily News) |

| PLAN AN AUTHOR VISIT! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I recently began visiting groups of children at schools, libraries, or summer programs. These visits can include presentations on my work as an author, discussions with those who are reading The Sea Shack, or interactive lessons on the art of writing. This allows me to combine two pieces of my life that I truly love: teaching and writing. If you would like to plan a visit, send me an e-mail or call me so we can begin working on the details. This is a photo taken during my recent visit to St. Frances Cabrini School in San Jose, CA, where I spent three days working with 3rd - 8th grade students. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
