Laura started writing music at age 10, though this music should never resurface. She was previously in a band called Satori as guitar and lead vocals before branching out to a solo career.

Her musical influences come from a lot of different places. She grew up on oldies from local radio stations and a collection of her parents' tapes and CDs. 2nd grade saw an obsession with Michael Jackson, which then became an obsession with The Beatles. It wasn't until 7th grade that she crawled out from under her rock and started listening to modern American music (though she was usually about two years behind). However, taking precedence over American music was Japanese music, more specifically, j-rock and visual kei. For those readers who are unfamiliar with this, think David Bowie playing rock, or Ozzy Ozbourne only less old. Around sophomore year she finally caught up with the American music bandwagon and jumped on, though still clutching the remnants of her beloved Japanese music. Music tastes then branched out to include bhangra, folk, rock, pop, hip-hop, French music, "emo" (whatever this may be), and just about everything else. Each of these things that she listens to influences her in some way, though some more than others.
