Route 66
Peach
Springs, AZ 86434
On Sunday, May 11,
2003, we were all standing around the Power House parking lot trying to decide
where to go for the afternoon ride when all of a sudden an incredible craving
for Hualapai Tacos hit us. Well, needless to say, that set the destination for
us. We rode to Peach Springs and each of us acquired an extensive insect
collection on our windshields and fairings.
Yawning was ill advised during the ride.
Upon entering the
Diamond Creek Restaurant, we found it to be clean, modern and well lit with
large color pictures of Arizona scenery on the walls. Prices are in the three
to five dollar range for lunch. For those who like conventional cuisine,
American & Mexican dishes and pizza are offered. We all ordered their
famous Hualapai Tacos and iced tea to drink. In about ten minutes, we had our
food and were chowing down. As always they were delicious, but a little smaller
than what we were used to. When asked about this, the waitress said “All cooks
are different.” The Hualapai salsa was excellent, just the right “temperature”.
The service was very good.
On the old Route
66 Riders tachometer, I’d rev this one up to 4 grand. As always, the redline is
5.
