Rick’s Restaurant Review

Jim Boy’s Tacos

Placerville, CA

This past month I had the pleasure of visiting my mother and sister in Placerville (Hangtown), CA. I was there for Thanksgiving and ended up getting a new bike in the deal, but that’s another story altogether.

One of our many stops in downtown Placerville was Jim Boy’s Tacos on Highway 50 on the east end of town. It’s a fast food joint, but one gets the feeling of being in a higher class establishment. Maybe it’s the dark interior.

You order at the counter and there is a wide variety to choose from. I had the #6, two chicken enchiladas rice and beans and my mother had a chili rellano. I forget what number it was. Prices were reasonable, about $5-$7 for lunch. The food was ready in a timely manner and it was delicious. The hot sauce was hot and the meal was pleasant. And the conversation was good (We were talking about my new bike.)

Since we went there, I’ve noticed other Jim Boy’s in other towns so it must be a franchise chain. If you run across one, I’d highly recommend it to satisfy a craving for fast Mexican food. I’ll rev this place up to 8 ½ grand on the old Route 66 Riders Tach.
