Rick’s Restaurant Review
By Rick Patton
KC’s Grill
4305 Hwy 68
Golden Valley, AZ
Tonight we decided
to celebrate my cost of living increase by going out to dinner at KC’s Grill in
Golden Valley. Incidentally, KC stands for Kim and Chris, the owners. We found it to be a very pleasant dining
experience. The interior is light, clean and airy. There are pictures on the
walls of open windows for that looking-out-the-window effect. The track
lighting is interesting. It looks like halogen projector bulbs hanging from
electrical wires strung across the ceiling.
This made for pleasant and abundant lighting. The men’s room had monkeys
painted on the walls. The chimp over the urinal was a bit unnerving, however.
Speaking of the restrooms, they have automatic trash cans. I’m not going to
explain it any more, but you’ll see what I mean.
Prices are in the
upper reasonable range. The menu contains items from a House Cheeseburger at
$5.00 to a 24 oz Porterhouse Steak at $25.00. There is definitely something for
every taste and pocketbook here. They serve sandwiches, salads, steaks, seafood
and pasta. I had the Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo
and Josephine had the House Cheeseburger. She said it was good and she
ate it all so I have to believe her. The first thing that impressed me about
the Fettuccini was the size of the portion.
There was enough there to feed the entire Corleone Family, including the
dog. Actually two people could split this and not go hungry. I ate the whole
thing. I gotta go get some Tums….Aaah, that’s better. Seriously though the
portions are large. Be careful if you go in here and are trying to lose weight.
Our waitress was
friendly and attentive and our food was brought promptly, actually within five
to ten minutes of our order. The manager
even stopped by for a short chat. By the way, all the waiters and waitresses
wear Tuxedo T-shirts with the KC’s logo on them. I don’t know why, but I liked
that.
In fact, I like
this whole place. I’m going to rev this one up to 4 ½ grand on the old Route 66
Riders Tach. If they keep this up, they will do well here.
