RICK'S "RESTAURANT" REVIEW
CHEZ KEPPNER
Somewhere in the Hills
Tucked away in the scenic hills of Kingman is a fantastic
little eatery known as Chez Keppner. It's open only one day a year and you have to bring some of
your own food. However the price is right since nobody, as far as I know, paid
for anything. There is no parking lot per se, but the street served as an
adequate alternative.
Service is a kind of Come-And-Get-It Buffet and that was
perfect as we didn't have to wait for anything. There had been a recent
remodeling done so for some of us who weren't there last year, there was some
confusion as to the new location of the kitchen. This,
however was sorted out in short order and the dishes were assembled without
further incident.
The food was great. After all, we cooked it, how could it be
otherwise? The proprietor, Rich, provided burgers and dogs from the grill and
they were done up to perfection.
There is one complaint though. We had to wait until nine pm
for the floor show to start. Fortunately good conversation and a strategically
placed deck of cards kept us occupied until then. The fireworks provided a
spectacular end to what turned out to be a very enjoyable afternoon and
evening.
I'll definitely recommend a visit to Chez Keppner next 4th of July and rev it up to 4 1/2 Grand on
the old Route 66 Riders Tach. Thanks Rich.
