Rick’s Restaurant Review
The Oatman Hotel
Well, once again last Sunday we were milling around the parking lot of the Power House stumped as to where to go on our ride. Nobody wanted to go to Chloride and Seligman seemed too far. Finally Oatman was suggested and we all agreed that that was just the ticket. I put some air in my tires, but my gauge was inaccurate so I did the whole ride with over 50 psi in my tires.
The ride up into the mountains was pleasant, if a little bumpy, and Monica wanted to stop at Cool Springs, that restored gas station about a third of the way up the hill. Interestingly enough they don’t sell gas there. It’s just a gift and curio shop now. But they have a lot of interesting stuff, they sell sodas and it’s a good place to get the kinks out of your legs.
After some good conversation with the manager and some other
motorcyclists there, it was back on the road again and soon we were entering
the quaint little mining town of
We had lunch in the old Oatman Hotel and they serve Buffalo Burgers. Naturally I had a chili size made with buffalo meat. Tom had a Buffalo Burger, his wife had fries, Gary and Monica … well I forget what they had, but they didn’t complain so it must have been good. Prices were in the $7 to $8 dollar range and the service was as good as could be expected considering how busy they were. Our waitress was friendly and attentive and the dining experience was enjoyable.
After lunch we roamed around town for a while. Some of us came with specific things to buy, but nothing we found seemed to fit the bill so we didn’t buy anything. The ride home was uneventful.
This was a fun ride and lunch at the Oatman Hotel was up to it’s usual standards. I’ll rev this whole ride up to 8 Grand on the old Route 66 Riders Tach.
