Rick’s Restaurant Review

THE OMELET HOUSE

2160 West Charleston

Las Vegas, NV

When Josephine and I went to Las Vegas for her doctor’s appointment a couple of weeks ago we found a great little place for breakfast or lunch. They’re open from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM every day except Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. From the outside it looks like any other storefront in a strip mall, but this is deceiving. It’s quite spacious inside. On the walls are knick-knacks that look like they came from many and varied yard sales and swap meets. I was especially taken with the Hog cookie jar.

The service was excellent. We had our menus and drink orders as soon as we sat down. The food was pretty good as well. They serve 37 different kinds of omelets ranging from “Just Cheese” at $6.79 to The “Black Forest” at $8.69. I’m sure that the “Flatlanders Special” at $69.00 with grunion lips, black jelly beans and raw liver among other things is not one of the more popular items. But it is served with a heapinhelpin’ of tongue in cheek. However the “Loch-Ness Monster” with gulf shrimp, avocado and cheddar cheese looks promising.

We were there for lunch, however and I had the Grilled Tuna Sandwich and a bowl of chili. Josephine had The Pilgrim, a turkey sandwich with bacon, jack cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise on a sesame seed bun. Both were delicious and well worth the $7.00 - $7.50 we paid. They were pretty good sized as well.

Despite the name, The Omelet House has quite a variety of dishes from which to choose. So if you’re looking for a good eatery in Las Vegas, I’d highly recommend this place. They also have locations at 4680 S. Maryland  Parkway and 316 N. Boulder Highway in Henderson. I’ll rev The Omelet House up to 9 ½ grand on the old Route 66 Riders Tach. As always redline is 10.
