RICK’S RESTAURANT REVIEW
By Rick Patton
OYSTER’S MEXICAN FOOD & MARISCOS
2906 Andy Devine
Kingman, AZ
Today I had lunch at Kingman’s new Mexican Restaurant, Oysters on Andy Devine. If the
address seems familiar to some, it’s because this is where Cheryl Ann’s Bakery
used to be. It’s now orange and white inside with plenty of interesting artwork
on the walls and Latin music fills the air.
The sign said, “Please wait to be seated.”
But I was told to sit anywhere I liked. I found a good spot and sat down. The
chips and salsa came almost immediately, so did my iced tea. The salsa was
spicy, but not excessively so. It was actually quite tasty. Interestingly, it
was served in a carafe with a small bowl on the side to pour it in. I ordered
the Lunch Mazatlan which consisted of a burrito (chicken or beef), rice or
beans (I had rice) and a small salad. This was $5.50. I thought that was
reasonable. Lunches generally range from $5.00 to about
$8.00.
Service was great. Less than five minutes
after I ordered, I had my chicken burrito. It was served wet in a red sauce
with melted cheese on top. I wish it had been a bit bigger though. It was quite
flavorful.
The restroom was clean and tidy. There was
an ornate chair and a potted fern in there so I had to go back out and recheck
the sign on the door. Sure enough it said “MEN”.
I’ll recommend Oyster’s for a quick and
reasonable lunch and I’ll rev this one up to 9 grand on the old Route 66 Riders
Tach.
