Rick’s Restaurant Review
By Rick Patton
The Ranch Club Steakhouse
On Pierce Ferry Rd.
Dolan Springs, AZ
Alright, so I didn’t get the address. At
least I got the town right. Anyway last Sunday we rode up to Dolan Springs.
There were twenty of us on about 15 bikes so we were quite a group. I actually
led the ride up there in my debut as Road Captain, but my CB radio had problems
and the less said about all that the better.
We were looking for a Mexican Restaurant
that was supposed to be there. It was closed and so was Lamb’s Family Diner so
by default we stopped in at the Ranch Club Steakhouse. There’s a bar on one
side and the restaurant is on the other. They have a covered patio for
banquets, parties and large groups. There was a birthday party going on out
there so they put a number of tables together in the restaurant for us. That
worked out OK. The interior décor was subdued with landscape paintings on the
walls and a few knick-knacks on the shelves.
The menu consisted of the usual fare,
burgers, sandwiches, steaks, salads and, of course chili size. I think mine ran
about six bucks or so. The other entrees were similarly priced. The portions
could have been larger, however. My chili size came on a “Jr. Whopper” sized
bun. It tasted all right after I doused it with habanero
hot sauce.
I don’t think they were prepared for a
group as large as ours as some of us were finished eating before others had
been served. I’m sure they did their best, however. Our two waitresses were friendly and
attentive and plenty and iced tea and good conversation kept us in pretty good
spirits until all of our food got there.
If you’re looking for a good place to eat
in Dolan Springs, you might consider The Ranch Club Steakhouse. I’ll rev this
one up to 7 ˝ grand on the old Route 66 Riders Tach.
As always, the redline is 10.
