Rick’s Restaurant Review
By Rick Patton
The Roadkill Café
Seligman, AZ
On Saturday, April
02, 2005, after an afternoon of helping Rodger clear his land in the
backcountry of Seligman, we had the opportunity to visit Seligman’s other
restaurant, The Roadkill Café. Right across the street from Lilo’s, it is a
welcome addition to the ambiance of the town. It is much more spacious than it
looks from the outside. The décor is Old West and antiques from the period
adorn the walls. There are also deer and elk heads and one rather large moose
staring at those dining. It almost made me wish they served venison. Adjacent
to the dining area is the bar, The OK Saloon.
The entire effect is rustic and pleasant.
Prices are about
the same as Lilo’s. Sandwiches are $6.00 to $7.95 and are available with your
choice of fries, potato salad or cole slaw. The iced tea comes in a mason jar
and the root beer comes in a mug. My O’Doul’s just came in the bottle. The food
took about 15 minutes to arrive and it was pretty tasty. I especially liked
Josephine’s “chips” that she got with the fish. They were deep fried and
crispy. My grilled chicken sandwich was delicious and fully cooked. Our
waitress was friendly and attentive.
All in all, I
would recommend The Roadkill Café as an alternative to Lilo’s and I’ll rev this
one up to 4 grand on the old Route 66 Riders’ Tach.
