Scotty’s Broasted Chicken
& Ribs
410 El Camino Way
Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403
On Sunday,
September 23, about fifteen of us decided to ride to Lake Havasu to sample the
chicken and ribs at Scotty’s. It was a worthwhile trip. The ride down there was
relatively uneventful except for the large number of semi trucks that we had to
deal with. Apparently Sunday is a good day for them as the scales are closed
and they want to get to California to be loaded up early Monday morning.
Whatever the reason, there certainly were a lot of them on the road. But I
digress….
Scotty’s is right
in between Brake Masters and Chuy’s and they specialize in chicken and ribs.
The décor is very chicken oriented with figurines and pictures of the birds all
around the place.
The chicken is “broasted”. I assume that’s a
cross between roasting and broiling. Or maybe it’s roasting and baking. Anyway it’s delicious. They also claim that
their chicken has 40.5% less fat and 27.1% less calories than the two major
chicken chains. I say it tastes too good to be health food. Carl and I made the
mistake of ordering the Sunday Snack Special. There were only two pieces and a
roll, either a breast and a wing or a drumstick and a thigh. Being a thigh man
myself, I had the latter. The Special was only $4.00. I wish I had ordered
something bigger. The prices on Chicken Paks range from $6.55 for 4 pieces to
$160.45 for 100 pieces. They don’t specify what the pieces are, but as the man
said, “Parts is Parts. They also serve ribs and sea food. As a side order, the
fried zucchini was good.
The service was
good and our waitress was friendly. I understand that if they get real busy the
food might take longer to get there but we didn’t have to wait too long. All in
all I’ll rev this one up to nine grand on the old Route 66 Riders tach.
