Emanual Hedden was my Great Great Grandfather. Emanual and Betsy Hedden were mentioned many times in the book of the Civil War in Western North Carolina. It is called "A Hard Road To Travel Out Of Dixie". Emanual Hedden was known as Captain Hedden and was married to Miss Betsy Fox a daughter of Robert Fox Born in 1785. Emanual Hedden was in a family of nine children.There were eight boys which names were John, Jasper, William, Jack, Garrett, Joe, Elisha, Emanual, and one girl Charity.To Emanual and Betsy Fox Hedden were born Emanual, Dillard, Annie, and Blakley Hedden. This is a picture of my Great Grandfather William Hedden. They call him Uncle Will. Uncle Will worked hard on his Mountain farm raising hogs, cattle, and sheep to sell and made a good living doing so. His wife died when some of the children were small but he cared for them and kept them together in the home. |
