Showers of Possibilities
P.E. Concentration Game
Answer Card | |||||||||||
Materials: One heavy duty shower curtain, a large magic marker, two yardsticks, and some laminated answer cards for each different puzzle. Game: 2-6 students can participate at a time. The object of the game is for the students to solve the puzzle by moving through the correct sequence of P.E. words as indicated on the answer card. One student is chosen to hold the answer card and they are refered to as the host "as in game show host.". They will not show this card to the other student players. The first player will begin the game by choosing a word from the first row (kick, punt, throw, catch and stretch) and will stand on the word. If it is the correct first word as indicated by the answer card, the host will say, "yes" and their turn will continue. When the student makes an incorrect guess, the host will say "no" and the next student will go. She should repeat the correct words that have been established thus far, and continue to find more correct words. The host will continue to say "yes" or "no" until the group solves the puzzle and gets to the other side. The puzzle can be solved by moving left, right, forward or diagonally. We do not have backward steps for our elementary students yet, but with older or more skilled students you could use backwards steps in the answer. An example of an answer card can be found by clicking on the link at the top of the page. This game is great for developing and enhancing P.E. vocabulary, gross motor skills such as hopping and jumping, balance, cooperation, listening and teamwork. |
