Mark's first race was in the spring of 2002 at Unity Raceway.  He had purchased the used Street Stock, but since it had been previously run at a different track, Mark had to make some pretty significant changes to run at Unity.  Depiste many hours of preparation, his first race resulted in a DNF due to an overheated engine.
Due to limited sponsorship, Team SAR took the remainder of the season off.  This also provided Mark and Andrea more time to focus on the adoption of their son, Zachary.
At the end of the 2003 season, Mark resumed his racing venture when he purchased a Super Mini Cup race car and joined the MMRA Northen racing division.  After a couple of exciting racings, good finishes, and meeting some really great people, Mark decided that Super Mini Cup cars were the way to go.
In 2004, Mark will be making a run for Rookie of the Year.  He plans to replicate the Tony Stewart #20 Home Depot car, and hopes for as strong a season as Tony had his first year in the Nascar Nextel (Winston) Cup series.
