Well things didn't really go as planned for the Star Speedway weekend.  Mark and his wife Andrea sold their house much faster than they expected and had to spend the weekend moving in order to get everything out in time for the closing.  We also didn't think that the Star Speedway race was a regional points race for the Quirk series, but... we were wrong.  Which also meant we dropped a long way back for the chance at Rookie of the Year.  Oh well.  We wouldn't have been able to go anyways, so Team SAR will just do everything they can to have a strong finish to the season.

From talking with my fellow racers, it apparently turned out to be a real interesting weekend, full of ups and downs.  Racing was real competitive, but rule enforcement seemed to be much of mystery.  MMRA chose to follow the local tracks rules for racing, which is permitted according to the MMRA rulebook.  However, many of the drivers had never raced at this track before, so they when they expected standard MMRA rules, they were a bit confused when rulings were made contrary to the MMRA rulebook.  The end result was a lot of confusion, and quite a few hot tempers mixed with some good racing and great weather.  Maybe MMRA will reconsider their practice of using track rules, and enforce thier own rulebook instead.  After all, it's easier to get three or four track officials on the same page than 20 drivers from different regions.  And isn't that why we have a national series with a standard rulebook anyway?  Well, we just have to wait and see.  I wasn't there, so I can't speak much, but my peers sure had plenty to say...
