I came into McComb the back way. The road was called "Old Highway 24". I love it when I ride the "Old" version of the "New" road.  It's also called Oakdale, but that name doeesn't do anything for me. I rode north and over shot the town ending up in Summit, whose old main street is pictured below. I think it was Sunday, so hopefully that explains the absense of any business activity.
Summit is just what it is. Riding south on US 51 from Summit into adjoining McComb, you go down the big hill. I smelled speed trap and indeed there was one.
Back on Old 24 I had seen these houses. They had been renovated. The stone walls or metal plate, imitation stone walls, were popular during an era. I'd say that era was the Turn of the Century, one before last.
I found my way to Downtown McComb. It was pretty simular to a lot of large small towns that had at one time enjoyed prosperity. Notice the brick walk? All the streets use to be brick downtown.
The building walls supplied space for instant billboards. "Falstaff Beer, The Choicest Product of the Brewer's Art". Guess I drank them dry.
"Drink Coca Cola......Refreshing", that's about all I can make out.
I'll probably drink them dry, too.
This is the Townhall, not the County Seat. The County Seat is down US.51 in Magnolia.

(I had put "Parish Seat", both times, I guess I've been in S.La. too long.)
Nothing Showing
Several Protestant churches were built with castle like towers.
I consider McComb a "Planet" using the new rating system. What we have seen so far does not hint at that rating. The next thing does.
