This website offers a wide range of cultural
and literary history of the United States. The webmaster for this
page is Lisa Gordi, an assistant professor at Banard College, a division
of Columbia University. This Website includes many sections that
offer links to American Studies, Early American materials, Nineteenth-century
materials, New York materials, Museums and Libraries, Literature resources,
Religion materials, Women's studies materials and Interesting courses using
the web. In the Literature resources there are twelve single-author
links that offer a variety of information about the selected author.
In addition to these specific links, there are many links to general Literature
sites that offer a multitude of useful material. In the section of
Early American materials you can look at Rare Colonial Maps and look at
a map of North Carolina dated from 1876, that depicts Cape Fear in what
we now know to be Cape Carterett and vice versa. Look at how the
landscape and diversity of North Carolina was discovered and depicted throughout
the history of this state.
