I've recently transitioned my career from procurement to adult education and distance learning. My Bachelor's degree is in Business Administration with a minor in Japanese Language and Culture.
For many years I worked in the chemical manufacturing sector in various Procurement positions. In every job, I always ended up with the responsibility for training and procedural documentation. My most recent position was actually an official training role, Procurement Process Education and Training Lead. I was responsible for the training and documentation of our Procurement function in North America. The economy took the downturn, training and resources were slashed, and I was laid off. I was offered a Purchasing position at our corporate headquarters that I turned down because I didn't want to move that far away from friends and family. More importantly, I didn't want to do Purchasing work anymore: My heart just wasn't in it. So, I entered grad school and completed my Master's in Adult Education and Distance Learning. Since then I've been an independent Instructional Designer.
I live in Charlotte, North Carolina with my cat, Max. Max loves to help me work by standing in front of the monitor and trying to catch the pointer. Prior to the Carolinas I lived in many places (MN, TX, NY, PA, OH, TN, Japan, LA, IL, SC), but spent most of the time in Pittsburgh, PA. I love to ski and try to take at least one trip out west per year to feed my addiction. I also play tennis and rollerblade, but my knees are starting to object.
Max loves boxes, and playing Hide-and-Seek in general.
