When will we join together as a world rather than individual nations and individual races? I see that time steadily approaching us. The time is coming for the people of this wonderful world on which we live on to see ourselves as one world, one race, the human race.
The United Nations was a good starting point that brought many nations of the world together for common goals and interests. People are now talking more about human rights rather than just the rights of those from any particular ethnic background. Nations are beginning to work as a team to keep our planet clean, planning for the future and thinking of those that are to come after we are gone. The positive energy created when many focus on a common good is astronomical! As one world united, we can truly create greatness on a planetary scale.
Seeing ourselves as one race, as the human race, may be a difficult step for some. Many of us were raised to believe that people, who look different than ourselves, are different. Deep down we cannot hide the truth, the truth that we all are the same, each of us having differences that make us unique individuals. A good example of how we are the same but unique, are that some people on this earth were born with a greater natural protection of the suns ultraviolet rays. This protection comes from having greater amounts of a skin pigment called melanin that makes the skin darker. We all have melanin in our skin, so we are the same, but the amount of melanin differs in each of us, hence making us unique! Wonderful isn't it! This specific uniqueness is a very visible difference, but most differences are not so visible. We all have fingers, so we are the same, but our fingerprints make us unique. We don't think that people are different (better or worse) than us because they are the types that have a swirl in their fingerprints! Why should we think people are different just because they have more melanin in their skin? Or because their eyes are different than ours? Or because of any other visible features.
To take this one step further, there are many religious beliefs in this world. You may believe in one while I believe in another. We are the same because we both have faith and believe in a higher power, but yet we are unique in our specific beliefs. Even those people of the same religion have beliefs that differ slightly. Two people of the catholic faith might differ on their belief of creationism and evolution. This is a very common difference in beliefs. Yet they are sill both the same, they are both catholic, while being unique in their own personal beliefs.
We are all wonderful, beautiful people each unique in his/her own way. No matter what country we are from, no matter what our ethnic background, no matter our religious beliefs, we are all the same while still being unique individuals. We are all of the human race. Let us come together and see how we are the same, rather than how we seem to be different.
