January 10: Chicago Asian American Organizations Protest against the Memorialization of Mike North on Senn High School's field in Chicago, IL
"This past summer, Chicago Asian American organizations banded together to confront Mike North about his usage of 'Chinaman' when describing Chicago Cubs pitcher, Jae Kuk Ryu. Mike North's clear lack of sincerity when apologizing on-air indicates that he is not worthy of having such an honor bestowed...Join us...as the Asian American community stands together in solidarity to make sure that the field will not carry Mike North's name." January 26: Chicago Premiere of an Award-Winning Documentary

The Japanese American community in Chicago will commemorate the Day of Remembrance on February 19th at 2pm at the DeVry Institute (3300 N. Campbell Avenue, Chicago, ILL). The Chicago chapter of JACL will celebrate its inaugural at 12pm at Coletti's Restaurant (5707 N. Central Avenue in Chicago, ILL). The cost is $50 per person, and a cash bar will be available. The event features the swearing in of new board members, a speaker, and entertainment.
