You know you've been in Germany for a year, when.........
From Mary:
**  You check to see if you have 30 cents euro
before you go to the bathroom
**  You expect to drink a beer and eat sugared popcorn when you go to see a movie
**  You enjoy drinking beer or wine instead of soda or water with your dinner....and you know it will cost less.
**  You know going out to dinner will take at least 2-3 hours
**  You've given up asking for tap water or ice in your drink at a restaurant
**  You automatically make reservations when going to dinner on a Friday or Saturday
** You don't close your eyes anymore when passing cars in those narrow streets...or when they pass you on the Autobahn
** You consider a honk while standing at a red light a simple suggestion that the light has changed and you can move now.
**  You know that you will never get any customer service, and when you do, you are shocked
**  You have learned to check the closing times on all parking structures (we've had our cars locked inside at the end of the evening)
**  You've gotten used to listening to the weather for Asia and Africa
**  You've gotten used to seeing men urinating on the side of the road.
**  You take for granted that all government offices will be closed every afternoon or at the very least for a couple of hours for lunch
**  You know you've struck gold when you find a store open on a Sunday
**  You've watched all the current seasons of "Lost", "Desperate Housewives" and "Gray's Anatomy" and can't wait until the next season comes out on disk.
**  You don't go anywhere without an umbrella.
**  You don't forget to take your parking ticket with you when you go shopping anymore.
**  You've stopped looking for French's yellow mustard, graham crackers, brown sugar, and a bottled salad dressing that you like
**  You've gotten used to paying at leat $100 (80 Euros) for a haircut and color
**  You know ahead of time that it will take at least 3 tries to straighten out any problem related to phones, cable, Internet, appliance repair......
**  You don't use your Navi to get
everywhere anymore.
**  You've learned to slow down at unmarked intersections so you won't get T-boned from the right.
**  You've learned to turn where the blue arrow directs you.
**  You've stopped wanting to turn right on red.
**  You've learned to call your mobile phone a "Handie"
**  You've learned to make most of your meals from scratch.
**  You've learned that "Das Wass"  means "Is that all?"
**  You've learned to say "Guten Tag" everytime you enter a store and "Tschuss"  whenever you leave.
** You're starting to think that purple-red is a natural hair color
** You find yourself saying "genau", "alles klar", "super" and "ja, ja"
** You are now kissing everyone on both cheeks when you say hello
** When you are counting, you use your thumb to show the number one
From Bill:
** After a long vacation in the states, your child mentions that they can't wait to get "home" to their own beds in Germany...and you agree!
** You can't remember the English word for "Danke"...just kidding
** You're no longer surprised when the menu is mostly made up of different types of schnitzel
**  Your 17 year old asks to borrow money for a bottle of wine...and you give it to her
**  All trips to the states are accompanied by several pages of shopping requests from your family and friends
** You expect sugar on your popcorn
** You like mayo on your french fries
** You can't wait to order "French" fries while eating in Paris
** You can fall asleep while visiting the Eiffel Tower--we have pictures!
** It doesn't bother you any more when the cleaning lady is mopping around your feet in the bathroom
** You know "Ausfart" isn't a place in Germany
From Our Friends:
** Michelle Blublough:  You've learned to not only pack your own groceries, but bring your own bags.
