Dealing with Laundry and German washing machines.
Remember it takes about 2 hours to wash and dry a normal load of laundry.  Also we found that Persil was what we needed to use since we had sensitivity problems with other detergents.  We could buy Persil and Lenor for sensitive skin and it helped alot.
All about Converters
This is important to know before you plug in one of your American appliances.  We used the wrong setting and "fried" a TV and a George Foreman Grill.  Look all over your appliance for the Wattage that is used.  Usually you can find this on a tag on the bottom of the appliance.  Then choose the converter that is well above that wattage.  This is necessary since there is a surge whenever you first turn on an appliance.  You can use your lamps here.  Just use a German bulb and plug converter.

Over the counter medications available in Germany
You will not find items such as Claritan or NyQuil here in Germany.  Bring these items along with you or have someone bring them from the states for you. Also make sure that you have at least a 6 month supply of your doctor perscribted medications when you move here. You will have to go to a local doctor with your percription bottle and they will perscive a medication that is available here and is closest to what you are currently taking.
