'I Believe in Angels'
(a short article published some time ago)
I believe that I am a walking example of how angels can help you transform your life into something exciting and
satisfying. In June, 1994, I was miserable, depressed, unemployed and penniless and, desperately seeking help, I kept asking the
angels for help. One day I was out in the garden, wondering what to do, when I was given an angelic message which said
'Give a course called Talking With Angels'. I followed the message and so I began giving workshops and courses of the
same title all around Ireland. At that time I was terrified of people thinking I was crazy, but I gave the courses anyway
and got a lot of media attention. Now I don't care if people think I'm crazy, because I'm happy!
Recently someone asked me 'Margaret, how do you get people to believe in angels?' Without thinking I replied immediately,
'I don't'. And it's true. Because it's not my job as I see it to persuade you that angels exist, that's up to the angels.
My mission is to help you connect with them.
Some people offer the service of communing with your angel and passing on its messages. My belief is that you should
commune with your own angel. Getting in touch is no secret. All you need do is be open, ask for help, and take your
angel's advice. It really is as simple as that, though most of us are too fearful of what would happen if we do connect!
We tend to think 'My angel will criticise me...' but that won't happen at all! Just spend a few moments in silence and
ask your angel for a message. Trust, and you will receive one.
One of my experiences:
Having an angel companion has helped me out of some dangerous situations, too. Some years ago close to Christmas I was
driving through a particular area of the city which has the name of being unsafe. The route I took would take me into this
area for literally a few yards and usually it was no problem whatsoever. Unfortunately this day I got stuck at traffic
lights behind a large refuse collection unit and in front of a construction lorry. I had been giving an Angels Course the
night before, and one woman said she would clear up her passenger seat so that she could invite her angel to travel along
with her in her car. Fortunately for me I decided to do the same thing. As I waited for the traffic lights to change two
young boys came running down an alleyway to my left and, with upraised arms they made for my passenger window as though
to smash it. I have always been very fortunate and this sort of incident has never happened to me before and I remember
watching the proceedings as though in slow motion with dread. I could almost hear the intake of breath of those other
drivers close by who were looking on. (Even though I had little to steal, a smashed window would need repair and this was
during the time when I was severely 'financially challenged'). Just centimetres from the window the two young boys came to
a startling halt, a look of shock and terror crossed their faces, and they raced back up the alleyway without doing any
damage to me or my car. What a relief! I don't know precisely what happened, but I firmly believe my angel manifested
something or some person in the passenger seat at that very last moment, hence the boys' looks of shock and terror.
Now there's magic for you!
Take this example:
I had begun my angels workshops in October 1994 and, when I was out walking in the nearby park during that autumn,
I collected three fallen Japanese maple leaves which I carried in my hardback notebook for my angels' workshops.
I knew by then that I had three angels and these would remind me of their presence when I was talking to groups.
Over the months as I travelled over Ireland with my work the three leaves carried in my notebook dried and crumbled and
I thought no more about them. The following June a stroke of good fortune (no doubt as a gift from the angels!) gave me
the chance to travel to Australia for free so naturally I grabbed the offer and arrived into Sydney on the 20th June,
the eve of the Winter Solstice downunder. The next day I was in a large indoor shopping mall, feeling very lost and confused,
no doubt due to jet lag. I was convinced that I'd somehow left my angels behind me in Ireland, or en route to the antipodes,
and that perhaps I would never be able to get back to them again! As I walked around this glass-enclosed market place I
worried and worried about this loss. Suddenly I noticed on the pavement in front of me a Japanese maple leaf,
a deep red/orange autumnal colour, just like the ones I had been carrying with me in previous workshops.
I stopped and picked it up, then looked around me and no-where was there any type of deciduous tree, and as it was
winter-time in Sydney there would certainly be no leaves left at this time. I just knew it was a message from the angels
saying 'Don't worry, we're here with you on your present path'. Feeling half foolish and half delighted,
I carried the maple leaf back with me to Ireland on my return journey and put it into my workshop notebook.
Despite the fact that I have brought that notebook with me to every workshop I give, both at home and abroad,
over the intervening years, that Japanese maple leaf is in the same pristine condition in which I found it back in 1995!
Another piece of 'angel magic'.
The angels seem to like working with Mother Nature, because in another instance, this ime during an Irish winter, I was feeling depressed and useless and went for a walk in the nearby Phoenix Park. There is a section which is the 'People's Garden' where there are ornamental trees and shrubs. However, as this was January there were few, if any, flowers or, indeed, people to be seen! Just as I walked through the gates leading to the pond I found a bunch of lilacs which looked as though they had been hastily picked from a bush, lying up against the gate. I had to pass them in order to enter, so I did. But something told me to go back and pick them up. Sure enough they were freshly cut lilac blossoms (which happen to be one of my favourite flowers) and they are, of course, purple in colour, the symbol of spiritual energy. After looking around for some time and finding no-one about I accepted them as a gift and brought them home with me. More 'angel magic'!
Sometimes angels can give you a beautiful scent just to let you know that they're with you. In my case it is usually one of flowers, and just to show it is from them they are out of season, such as hyacinths in autumn or roses in December. One evening I was driving home from a workshop in Galway, on the west coast of Ireland. It's a long drive and a tiring one, especially after a full day's workshop. I had a companion in the car with me and I was just wondering if I should continue driving when the entire car filled up with a powerful pine essence. My companion also noticed it. That essence enlivened me and helped me to drive home without feeling tired any more. Do be alert to these small but definite magical messages because they can happen to you, too!
