1. Standard Shooting Rules.
1.1. Unless otherwise provided in these conditions, the competition will be conducted under NRAA Standard Shooting Rules for Fullbore Rifle Clubs, as amended from time to time.
2. Team Eligibility.
2.1. Teams nominated in this competition shall be from the following:
a) Clubs affiliated with the Metropolitan District Rifle Association Inc, hereafter referred to as the MDRA;
b) Clubs from other District Rifle Associations affiliated with the NSW Rifle Association, hereafter referred to as the NSWRA; or
c) Schools affiliated with the NSWRA.
2.2 If a club enters more than one (1) team, its No 1 team must consist solely of fully affiliated members of the club or satisfy Rule 2.5. Refer to rule 3.6.
2.3 A composite team may be nominated by clubs affiliated with the NSWRA provided that conditions make it unreasonable for clubs to enter a team in their own right.
2.4 The acceptance of any team entry shall be subject to the approval of the Executive Committee of the MDRA.
2.5 Where a club team withdraws from the competition, its members may shoot for another club, in a same or similar grade, for the completion of the Grade series.
3. Team Composition.
3.1. Teams shall consist of a maximum of eight (8) shooters.
3.2. All team members must be enrolled as active members of the New South Wales Rifle Association and/or the National Rifle Association through their respective rifle association.
3.3. For school clubs or teams, at least six (6) of the teams members competing at each match must be enrolled with the NSWRA as active members of that club or school.
3.4. For composite teams all of the teams members competing at each match must be enrolled with the NSWRA as active members of the clubs concerned.
3.5. Any known changes to the composition of a team must be made in writing to the Statistician prior to the scheduled commencement of the match.
3.6. Where the composition of a team is altered, the Executive Committee shall have the power to regrade the team at any time.
3.7. No competitor shall compete for more than one team in any single match.
4. Entry & Grading.
4.1. Team entry shall be made on the form issued by the MDRA and be accompanied by the entry fee specified thereon.
4.2. The number of grades will be determined by the Executive Committee after entries have been received.
4.3. The Executive Committee of the MDRA shall determine in which grade a team competes.
4.4. After the second match of the competition the Executive Committee will review the grading to balance the teams in each grade.
5. Competition Format.
5.1. The competition shall consist of six (6) matches as far as possible to be shot at the distances and dates as advised by the MDRA.
5.2. Coaching is permitted only by other team members or other members of the applicable club(s)/school.
5.3. Each team member will fire a stage of fourteen (14) counting shots with two (2) optional sighters at each match.
5.4. For each match, the score for the team will be the aggregate of the seven (7) best individual scores.
5.5. Matches will be shot under the following time limits:
a) 300, 400, 500, and 600m three hours (3:00), and
b) 700 and 800m three hours and fifteen minutes (3:15).
6. Team Responsibilities.
6.1. Scoring.
6.1.1. Teams must provide a check-scorer at the scheduled starting time.
6.1.2. Each team score card must be completed and verified by the check scorer.
6.2. On the completion of the match all scorecards must be completed, including scores and totals for the Parramatta Trophy, checked and signed and handed to the Range Officer.
6.3. Marking.
6.3.1. Each team shall provide a marker for each match.
6.3.2. Each marker must report to the Chief Butts Officer in the butts by 12:40pm.
6.3.3. On the commencement of match time, any team whose Marker has not reported to the butts will not be allowed to commence shooting, however, their starting time will be taken as the commencement time of the match.
6.3.4. If the Chief Range Officer, after consultation with the Butts Officer(s), is dissatisfied with the performance of a Marker, the team supplying that Marker will be required to provide an immediate replacement or to supply a club member to supervise/assist the Marker. Failure to do so promptly may result in the deduction of five (5) points from the teams aggregate score.
6.3.5. All Markers are to remain in the butts area until completion of the match when all targets are to be pulled.
6.4. Practice Shooting.
6.4.1. Practice is permitted, at the discretion of the Chief Range Officer, from the conclusion of the teams shoot.
6.4.2. Practice will be permitted beyond the finishing time of the match provided the Club provides a Marker for the target in use.
7. Prizes.
7.1. A team must compete in every match conducted to be eligible for prizes.
7.2. In the event of a tie for any prizes, tie regulations as per standard shooting rules shall apply. However, the countback will occur using match totals in the order fired, from last to first.
7.3. Grade.
7.3.1. In each grade, the team achieving the highest aggregate score for the competition will be declared the winner.
7.3.2. A pennant will be awarded to first, second, and third place in each grade.
7.3.3. Badges, not exceeding ten (10) in number, will be presented to the individual members of the winning team.
7.4. A prize will be awarded to the shooter who achieved the highest individual score in the competition and their coach.
7.5. Champion Club.
7.5.1. This trophy will be awarded to the club whose two (2) nominated teams compile the highest aggregate score in the competition.
7.5.2. Unless otherwise nominated at the time of entry, the Clubs No 1 and No 2 teams scores will be used for this aggregate.
7.6. Parramatta Trophy.
7.6.1. The scores of the top four (4) shooters in each team, in each match, will be totalled together. Points shall be awarded according to the position run in the teams grade in each match, for example, first place scores ten (10) points, second place scores nine (9) points, etc.
7.6.2. Points are re-calculated if any regrading of teams occurs.
7.6.3. The trophy is awarded to the team that scores the highest number of points over the course of the competition. In the case of a tie, the trophy will be awarded to the team having the most number of tens, nines, eights, etc. If still tied, the team with the highest competition aggregate is the winner.
8. Penalties for Breach of Competition Conditions.
8.1. Teams failing to comply with these conditions of competition or standard shooting rules will be penalised. Penalties available include disqualification of team, monetary fine, or deduction of scores as determined by the Executive Committee.
9. Program Interpretation and Variation.
9.1. During the period of competition, the Executive Committee may vary the match program if necessary but not the conditions of competition.
9.2. The interpretation of the meaning and scope of the conditions of competition, and the extent to which they apply, shall be determined by the Executive Committee.
