JR Ward

Ward has written a number of romances under the name Jessica Bird. As JR Ward she writes about the Black Dagger Brotherhood, a group of hot vampire warriors.  Her books have a whole vibe of their own and Ward’s love of heavy rap shines through.  The characters are appealing and refreshingly, unapologetically male.  They don’t read as from a female’s pen.  Well written, she manages to bring the group of brothers into each book with secondary story arcs appearing but not distracting form the main event.  The names seem silly at first glance, but I quickly got past that as I warmed to the characters.  My favourite brother is whichever is featured in the book I’m reading at the time.

Dark Lover

Wrath reluctant king of the vampires and Beth. A great introction to the series we quickly meet the principle characters and Ward filters through enough of the bigger picture to raise interest in reading on.  Secondary story arcs involve Butch and Marissa to wet your appetite for their story.

Lover Eternal

Rhage and Mary.  Described as a movie star georgeous womaniser, I didn't expect myself to fall for Rhage.  Him and his beast are a winning combination though.  Mary is a very ordinary heroine, looks like the average girl rather than being a great beauty so it's wonderful to see her spark such devotion.  She has a great inner strength that shines and makes her admirable rather than dull.  The cliff-hanger will ensure every reader is desperate for the next book.

Lover Awakened

Zsadist and Bella.  The tortured hero and the beauty.  One of the authors own favourite characters.  Some wonderful moments in this book which often has a dark theme.  Phury’s scenes will tug your heartstrings and make you long for his happy ever after.
