The idea factory opened its doors for the first time on January 9, l996. Having an extensive background in the toy and gift industry over the past 10 plus years, the idea factory's founders, Lance Kushner and Glenn Rudin started the company with a vision of what the quintessential "full service" toy, gift and premium company needed to be in the late 90's and beyond into the millenium. Lance and Glenn took this vision to Stu Lewis and Stanley Goldberg, veteran owners of the highly successful apparel business High Point Knitting (the parent company) and thus, the Idea Factory was born. The idea factory's first year featured one dramatic new account success story followed by another. By years end the idea factory could boast Ringling Brothers Circus along with its Disney on Ice Shows (Toy Story on Ice and Pocahontas on Ice), FAO Schwarz, Polygram, The Lyons Group (Barney), Paramount Pictures (Star Trek), Ann Taylor Stores, MGM (Pink Panther) and Warner Brothers Studios as clients. Additionally, the idea factory was the creative resource behind the Seven-Eleven "Brainfreeze" spoon-straw summer slurpee promo. The next logical step for the idea factory was to leverage the retail and distribution strengths of its parent company High Point Knitting by acquiring licenses that would highlight its strengths in the marketplace. Hence forth, the Idea Factory is proud to be the master licensee and creative force behind the "Meanies" sensation. Additionally, in 1998 the Idea Factory is proud to introduce a complete line of gift products for the "Barney the Dinosaur" feature movie. The idea factory is staffed with the most innovative and creative minds in the industry. Our mantra is to look at all products and categories our clients are involved in and find new fun ways to exploit them through innovative design and merchandising while always adding value. We are "hands on" in the Orient for sourcing, costing and manufacturing with a fully staffed and functioning office in Hong Kong.
