Debate Grade Criteria for debate-please follow checklist belo
** the times of your speeches need to be much longer and more developed for this debate. Substantial reductions in grade for speeches under 5 min or rebuttals under 3 min:
Analysis of Arguments (20 points)
**identify fallacies w/opponent
**explain vaue or counter value
**explain plan or counterplan
**create a good narrative or story
Delivery Skills--(20 points)
**good eye contact
**stage movement
**use of gestures
**vocal dynamics--volume,tone,pitch,inflection
Points of Information/Order--(10 points)
**ask at least one question per speaker
**answer all questions asked in constructive
**raise a point of order when justified
**defend one's self if a point of order is raised
Parliamentary Awareness--(10 points)
**aware of speaking order and times
**know your role as a parliamentary speaker
**keenness about the event and what is transpiring
**ability to use answers from POI in one's speech
Strength of Evidence--(10 points)
**good examples
**use of statistics
**cites or studies from popular media--common knowledge
Clash of Opponent;s Arguments--(20 points)
**properly refute opponent' claims
**summarize opponent's position
**extend or rebuild partner's speech
**if rebuttalist, crystalize the round, voting issues
Organization (10 points)
**did you have a roadmap to the speech
**did you follow the roadmap
**were your positions numbered
**did you signpost
**was the plan/counter/case/off-case properly numbered

Checklist:
Government must have: resolutional interp, definitions, significance, inherency, solvency, plan, and advantages (optional)
Opposition must have 3 of 4: topicality, disadvantage, critique and counterplan
Speech times should be close to max minutes for constructives and only 1 minute short on rebuttals--sub penalty for short speeches
