Mecha Name: Ba’al; The black dragon who sits silent with no pilot. This dragon betrayed his kin and helped the dragon mages to confine his kind into their armored prisons, being led to believe he would rule singularly over humans once the uprising. Only when he found out the horrific truth did the dragon, now known as Ba'al; The Corrupted, did he try to make ammends by killing as many uprisers as he could. One of the Dragon Mages who seal this dragon is quoted as finding it ironic that this dragon should findthe trickster was indeed the tricked and sealed away like the rest of his kin. Mecha Appearance: Ba’al is one of the smallest dragon mecha, if not the smallest mecha in existance. Compared to the other dragon mecha, Baal is a dwarf amoung giants being only tweelve feet tall. There is a certain resemblance between Rastlin’s armor and the style of Ba’al. Unlike most of the other dragons with a humanoid configuration the Baal has only three fingers on each hand and two metal toes. It's black plate seems to absorb light while it's bronze highlights skatter the light. The white cloak when fully deployed provides a better skattering affect than the bronze highlights as it flies through the air refracting the image of the ground below or sky above to partially blend in with the scenery. Powers: “Look behind you!” - Yes, the oldest trick in the book, but this trick has magic behind it. This spell will make anyone within earshot look in this direction when he shouts it. Fights will stop momentarily while they become distracted to look at what’s behind them. When they turn back to look at Ba’al once more, he has miraculously vanished! This spell uses a lesser form of mind controlling magic that affects everyone he uses it on, even the most stoic willed people will look since it applies to the inborn instinct of natural preservation. "Illusion detection" - Rastlin call’s this power ‘Sorting fact from fiction’ in casual conversation. Ba’al’s pilot has trained his mind to reject the reality illusions and invisibility enact upon the mind. This training has also made him able to see what can normally not be seen, like beings of made non-visible energy. Yet this ability takes time to work. A complex illusion telling him that he now stands alone in space with a wizard when they were standing only moments before in a shantytown bedroom would immediately become apparent and vanish, but the illusion of an apple in a bowl of fruit would take him several minutes of casual observation since his mind would have to pick up on something ‘unrealistic’ about the apple. Invisibility becomes apparent either quickly or slowly depending on the used method of making oneself invisible. He has personally routed several wizard attempts to see the Princess for her visions. This power only works on Rastlin personally though, no one else is affected, illusions for others are still there, and it isn’t magic, so there are no indications of magic since it is not a spell. “Object call ****” He calls a small range of objects across time and space to the palm of his hand instantly. He can call a small dagger, a pair of lock picks, a small metal ball, a length of silk cord, or a vial of some prepared potion to his hand. Otherwise he can summon nothing but, upon rare occasion, a fruit of some sort. This power makes the King and Queen nervous, so he refrains from using it unless he has to. The Princess has found it rather entertaining upon the rare occasion the two are together. “(Insert phrase here)” – A magical spell that requires no incantation to be spoken, but a simple somatic gesture of a hand. For example Rastlin needs to get past a guard to talk to the Queen then he’ll tell the guard that he’s expected and wave the person out of the way. Yet he couldn’t tell the Unicorn Guardian that he is another Mystical Beast pilot and gesture and have her believe it while he’s piloting Ba’al. There has to be a certain believability to his statements. Iron-willed, and only iron-willed, people are not affected in the least by this power. Weak-willed people totally believe him even if what he says is a total boldfaced lie. Everyone else is affected by the spell depending upon the believability of his words. “Thump.” - a magical attack that will render a person unconscious. Used in the closest of combat situations, i.e.: He’s close enough to you that a sword is pretty much useless, so the target will have practically no chance to escape the discharge. Even the most hearty warrior or protected wizard will fall limply to the ground. The blast can only attack one person, or two by touch on the head and will knock anyone out for at least a full two minutes. The blast has a range of ten feet and will pass through protective spells and armor like they aren’t even there. By far this is Rastlin’s most powerful and only offensive spell. Many wizards would love to have his knowledge of this spell’s workings. Rastlin carries a deck of spell cards given to him by both the Queen and King. The deck holds several magical spells, traps, and summoning cards. One of these cards allows him to summon the Ba’al to his side. |
