Name: Char Name Meaning: Blaze that reduces to ashes Name Pronunciation: Cha-R Referred to: Char Age: 17, maybe 16 Birthday: Not sure, but he was adopted on May 23 Location: A small shrine hidden deep in the forests of Mori |
Favorite Color: Black Favorite Food: Fried Oysters Favorite Subject: Werewolves Likes: Learning dirty drinking songs, dancing Dislikes: Too much noise, swimming Hobbies: Tree running, exploring, sculpture Dreams: He'd like to have a family, but none of the relationships that the fragment has had have turned out well. He'd like to be the first to succeed and do so with the first phoenix guardian, but he's having a hard time separating from the semi-sheltered life he's led up to this point. So he's really not sure what to do since he knows there is some sort of 'mating dance', as he puts it, to the whole courtship/falling in love thing. He'd like to fall in love with some one who's quite different from him but enjoys his company and is intelligent. Looks would be nice, but he's been taught to look past appearances and into the person them self. Lovelife: None at the moment, though he has a huge secret crush on Phoenix Guardian one. Family: It has been assumed that the two corpses he was found with were his parents. He considers Rahl, the fragment bearer before him, to be his parent since Rahl raised him from an infant. Friends: He had few childhood friends, most of those were creatures he managed to befriend in his spare time, which wasn't often. Most of them have passed away. The few that haven't move each season with migration. He also considers the other phoenix guardians to be his friends, but they may have different opinions of him. Strengths: Speaks Pheo~nai, a language only understood by the other phoenix guardians. Has four lifetimes worth of additional memories that he can draw on. Weaknesses: He'd do anything for his friends, even if it means betraying the phoenix within the armor. Appearance: Char is a little over five and a half feet tall. With his runner’s build and slender frame he might weigh just shy of one hundred and forty pounds dripping wet in his heaviest clothes. He moves in a relaxed and thought out manner, his nearly off white skin glowing lightly in the moonlight like some ghost. He keeps his straight black hair shoulder length in the back, but lets his bangs grow halfway down his upper chest. He keeps clean-shaven, burning off any stubble shortly after he awakens in the morning. Char has never fretted over is appearance, though most passing women consider him cute. The marks on his face and golden eyes cast an outlandish insinuation about his features, but no more than some of the newer noble castes that can afford mystical adjustments of decorations. Under his shirt he conceals a birthmark in the shape of a claw clutching the mainland, but has never given it much thought. Char has four tattoos on his face, one running down each cheek and one on each upper eyelid pointing toward his temples. He absently bounces leg while sitting. People are normally his inhuman eyes and the strange tattoos on his face take them back a little when he's not in his traditional shrine robes. He figures that that it is human's almost innate fear of the unknown or the different. He has long since grown mostly used to this treatment, but hides his appearance in towns so not to disturb the populace. Personality: He has a lot of principles and moral codes, thanks to his upbringing as a fragment and maintaining the shrine. He has yet to be tested by this method. The memories of the phoenix and his mentor taught him these values. Sometimes he sings to himself, but can't actually sing, and doesn't know the words of the song. Char's generally friendly with most anyone, normally hugging all his friends, whether they like it or not. Char has killed animals for both food and protection, but he still gets that sickened feeling in his gut when he does it. He would kill to protect himself, the other guardians, the animal mecha, and the last remnants of the phoenix. These priorities have been ingrained in him since coming to the island, though some times he doubts he could ever really kill some one.His life has been very structured, keeping the more dangerous creatures away from the shrine and maintaining the shrine as a place to recuperate and remember takes up most, if not all, of his free time. This has made him a bit of a creature of routine. History: There is much about the pilot of the phoenix mecha Sõra that is unclear. Char knows that his parents were sick when they left him at a rundown orphanage in Umi while they went to the island of Mori to look for the legendary healing powers of the phoenix. They never returned. Char was soon adopted from the orphanage in Umi, then given to the shrine keeper Rahl as payment for some services rendered. Since that time Char has lived a very peaceful and secluded life on the island. He’s become quite familiar with most of the wild life on the island and knows many places on the island that he can hide both himself and the phoenix mecha if the need for it ever arises. He later learned that the Phoenix Bearer, a person joined with a fragment of the phoenix’s essence, was like a young phoenix. Fiery, hot tempered, and ready to take on anyone who wanted to have the mecha that it's friend had been bonded into. The second bearer showed more wisdom. He hid the mecha beneath the island of Mori, setting up barriers to protect it. He then created a shrine that would be little more than a pithy place to remember the extinct firebirds, not a place to hide a giant suit of magical armor. |
