Reconnaissance Course covers point, route, & area reconnaissance, use of rural hides is also taught in this course to members of MILITIA 5th Division MI.

Use of map, aerial, & satellite photos
Reconnaissance patrols
Rural OP`s & LP`s
Range card, observation log
Military sketchs
Basic ground photography
Communications & reporting
Hide construction use
Field expedient hides
Belly hides
Semi permanent hides
Hide duties & routine
Hide security & extraction
Sniper teams & sniper team support.

Basic Reconnaissance Course is conducted over a 4 hour & 24 hour period. Each course varies in style & type of reconnaissance mission so that it may be taught to members with the goal of developing ongoing learning skills in different methods of reconnaissance as it applies to small unit conducting independent actions while operating in civilian environments during operations other than war.
This course is meant to identify individuals & teams whom demonstrate the ability to be trained as rural scouts, designated marksmen, & snipers.
Next phase is for those members to attend evening classrom covering Sniper School Rural Modules followed by field training to qualify the members for their MILITIA 5th Dvision MI Brigade Sniper Section.

Advanced long term rural hide operations course is conducted over a 2-7 day period with a preplanned target mission scenario. This course is open to MILITIA 5th Division MI Sniper Sections teams who have completed Sniper School Mecosta County MI to develop ongoing sniper skills in addition to their monthly training sessions.

The purpose of the unorganized militia is to protect life, liberty, community, local, state, & national infrastructure & to assist the lawful authorities of the state & nation in time of crisis.

Mecosta County MI 9th Brigade 5th Division is compromised of able bodied citizens 18 - 60 years of age from Mecosta County MI.
All members are required to purchase & maintain their own rifles, ammo, uniforms & equipment. Members attend one 4 hour meeting & one 24 hour meeting a month at Level 1 & 2
