The mission of the Sniper School Mecosta County MI is to train rural designated marksmen, scout snipers, & exchange information on sniping.

9th Brigade 5th Division is staffed by the Sniper Section Headquarters Element
whom conduct basic & advanced rural sniper courses, basic & advanced urban sniper courses, & Sniper Section Leaders Sniper Employment Officers courses for MILITIA 5th Division MI.

Basic sniper students are taught to operate in two & four man teams emphasis is placed on information gathering, reporting, mission planning as it applies to team(s) & units conducting independent actions while operating in civilian environments during operations other than war.

Sniper School Mecosta County MI conducts 24 hour & one week courses with a combination of classroom field execises & weapon live-fire exercises. During the 24-hour & one week designated marksman scout sniper courses the basic skills a designated marksman scout sniper has to master are taught. These skills are basic & advanced marksmanship, individual & team movement, land navigation, fieldcraft, use of cover, concealment, camouflage, construction use of ghillie suits, observation, target detection selection, range estimation, assessing effects of wind, construction use of hides, tracking, day & night patrolling, information gathering, reporting, sniper theory - tactics, mission planning & employment.
The objective of the training courses is to teach two man & four man designated marksman scout sniper teams scouting, patrolling & firing out to a range of 600 meters to eliminate personnel or material targets under tactical circumstances. All students become highly knowledgeable in conducting independent actions in civilian environment(s) during operations other than war.

Other subjects taught related to sniping include hand to hand combat, knife, stick fighting, improvised weaponary, use of handgun, shotgun, survival, evasion, resistance, escape. With additional & ongoing training each designated marksman, scout sniper is further trained to operate individually should the mission require it.

Normally we train 2 two-man sniper teams 1 four-man fire team at a time depending on our schedules. We are very flexible almost always training is during the weekdays this is for security reasons. The majority of the populace is working there are fewer people in the areas we train. Being in a small group of 2 - 4 persons arouses less suspicion we blend in better with other outdoor activities.
Classroom training is conducted indoors we have a large video & training manual selection, field training & live fire weapons training exercises are conducted outdoors year around. Training can be tailored to the member(s) & team(s) capabilities as their schedules allow us to train them. Limited 4-hour training courses are available on a select basis these are for ongoing substainment of skills.

Each designated marksman, scout sniper is required to legally purchase own, bring a precision rifle, equipment, uniforms, construct or purchase a ghillie suit at their own expense. Each designated marksman, scout sniper of Sniper Section 9th Brigade 5th Division Mecosta County MI is required to maintain their personal sniper weapon system have it zeroed with 120 rds of ammo, ghillie suit & equipment ready at all times. Plus an additional 20 - 60 rds of ammo for each training session they attend.

24 hour & one week training course are also open to member(s) of the US armed forces active, reserve, national guard, federal, state, local law enforcement agencies & corporate security services.

Sniper Section Headquarters Element conducting sniper training with members Sniper Section Mecosta County MI. Normally we train in 2 man sniper teams & 4 man fire teams for security reasons. It is vital sniper team members have & wear adequate clothing, meet their daily fluid, & nutritional requirements while conducting actions during hot weather operations. It is recommended sniper teams operate conduct actions from shaded positions & improvised hides to conceal & protect them from the elements, conducting movement, hide construction site preparation at night  to take full advantage of the cooler part of the day.
