Not all the snipers targets are human some are material such as communication equipment, vehicles, plane engines, fuel storage tanks & generators can be destroyed at the cost of a rifle round in some cases. While the sniper(s) remain undetected escaping to carry out more damage to the enemy infrastructure, equipment & moral.
Understanding these applications also provides the designated marksman scout sniper the awareness necessary to protect these targets in counter sniping operations.
Organization of the Sniper Section Mecosta County Michigan 9th Brigade 5th Division consists of a 2 man Section Headquarters Element & four 2 man teams for a total of 10 personnel.
Sniper Section Headquarters Element consists of a SEO Sniper Employment Officer & Chief Scout/Senior Sniper who are responsible for organizing, training, & supervising the Sniper Section & Sniper School within the Brigade.
2 man teams consist of designated marksmen & scout snipers who are trained to conduct independent action(s) in civilian environments during operations other than war in support of the Brigade, Rifle Company & Rifle Platoon(s).
Each designated marksman, scout sniper is trained to operate individually should the mission requre it. A two man sniper team & four man fire team concept is normally used when conducting actions for security & sharing of mission essential tasks.

Two man designated marksmen, scout sniper teams & four man fire teams are given the maximum amount of freedom in planning, information gathering, reporting & conducting actions.
Depending upon which type of Sniper Weapons Systems are owned by team member(s). The team(s) can be employed in the following
Hard Target Interdiction
50 cal Sniper Weapon Systems
Medium Target Interdiction.
300 Win Mag - 338 Win Mag
Light Target Interdiction
22LR - 308 Win 7.62 mm NATO
Teams can engage targets ranging from dogs flood lights, generators, vehicles, planes on runways, enemy personnel sniper behind heavy cover such as in buildings.
Teams can operate as scouts to gather information, designated marksman, scout sniper teams, counter sniper teams while conducting independent actions in civilian environments during operations other than war.
One of the main missions performed by 9th Brigade 5th Division Mecosta County Michigan is protection of the community, local, state & national infrastructure by rural surveillance missions of these assests.
Other missions performed are the tracking, locating of lost hikers, hunters, and individuals.
Elimination of raccoons, coyotes that are causing damage to property & livestock.
Patrolling, route, area, & point recon Tracking, surveillance, reporting of poachers.
Surveillance, reporting of suspected METH labs, marijuana growing areas.
Common sense & realistic application of our assets are a guideline to team employment.
