Using the skills of observation-range estimation the designated marksman scout sniper is able to detect, select, estimated the range, estimate wind direction-speed, make scope corrections to deliver a precision shot.
Observation sectors are assigned to an area in the final firing position FFP, observation post OP hide, using unadided vision, aided vision binoculars, spotting scope nigh vision devices each sector is hastily searched & detail searched to identify objects & targets in each sector. Objects & targets are plotted in each sector on a range card showing ranges for quick referrence to assist the team in communicating the position of targets & keep a record of the action(s) for debrief.
Observation logs detailing activities ared used in conjuction with the range card to assist in determining patterns for later referrence & keeping a record of the team`s action(s) for debriefings.
I have heard many persons fail to understand why snipers are assigned scouting missions for gathering information.
Scout is the first word in Scout Sniper having the ability to scout an area to detect, select, assign priority to targets, keep a record for information gathering purposes is as important as making a precision shot.
Taking of a human life is a serious matter by gathering information that assists, protects commanders, team, leaders, members of assault, security & support element(s) by providing real time information allows at times a life not to be taken by the designated marksman scout sniper in a police or military action(s).
Should a life(s) need to be taken having practiced & used proven observation, range estimation, wind estimation & precision marksmanship skills keeping standardized sniper data books-records will assist in justifying the action(s).
