Transportation Section
MILITIA 9th Brigade 5th Division
Mecosta County Michigan
Transportation Section consists of a RV command post, four passenger vans, a panel truck with interior benches, & 2 pick up trucks with trailers. Two members are licensed mechanics one is also an auto body specialist.

By using nondescript vehicles the Brigade is able to transport the members to training & actions without drawing attention to a "militia convoy of personally owned vehicles."
By the members leaving their personally owned vehicles at home or a staging area allows the members families to use the family vehicle while members are training & conducting actions. This also prevents the family vehicle from being identified during training & actions.
The option of using rented nondescript vehicles rented through a "third party" is a consideration. The vehicles can be rented with the cover of legitimate group activities or individually from various locations.
The vehicles can be used to pick up members from their homes, pick up point or a "secure staging area" without the knowledge of their family & friends. The transportation section can move as a "security convoy" with an "armed security team in the panel truck". Another option is to take different routes reassembling the teams vehicles at the pretraining pre action training location. The reverse system can be used when leaving training & actions.
At all time security in communication of hand arm signals & radio communications is to be observed. Civilian clothes, work or hunting clothes should be worn to further prevent the appearance of a "militia convoy" and help establish a cover story.
When arriving at the training area or while conducting actions a security perimeter is to be established until the members disembark & the vehicles safely leave, the members then move out by foot. Reentering the vehicles a security perimeter is established until everyone is on board & the members depart the training location or after conducting the action(s).
A partial debrief with be held at a "post training post action staging location" members will then return home.

Other means of transportation & resupply can be used to support actions. "An appearance of legitimate activity", security, communications, noise, fuel, maintenance, terrain, weather & opposition are all factors in the use of any of these methods. ALL METHODS ARE A MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION NOT FIGHTING PLATFORMS. Stealth & evasion are the best means of defense. All methods discussed are meant to increase the awareness of team member(s) to assist in planning, information gathering & conduct of action(s).

LAND.
Foot travel is the team member(s) primary means of transportation in all terrain & seasonal conditions, snowshoes, skis & sleds are an example of methods use to overcome the problem snow causes. Bicycles, motorcycles ATV`s, horses, snowmobiles can be used depending terrain & season. When used the distance that team member(s) can covered is increased, there is a reduction in fatigue in some methods, yet an increase in logistics.

WATER kayaks, canoes, fishing boats, speed boats, pontoon boats, house boats sail boats, yachts, personal watercraft & rubber boats can be use to transport, insert & extract team member(s). A crew must be used to operate some of the vessel(s) with the crew on stand by to assist the team. Watercraft should be viewed as a mean of transportation not a fighting platform. A cover story & activity should be arranged for the watercraft PFD`s, emergency signal(s), alternate pick up point(s) & an evasion plan(s) must be prearranged in case of compromise or emergency.

AIR ultra lights can be use to scout an objective area. Small planes can be use to scout, insert, extract, & resupply team member(s) in area that offer an isolated landing strip or drop zone.

During any action the key is to use the transportation & resupply method(s) that appears normal arouses the lest suspicion has the best chance of a believable cover story with "an appearance of legitimate activity". While causing the lest amount of fatigue to team member(s) allowing for the maximum benefit of stealth, evasion & success of the action.

Transportation Section 9th Brigade 5th Division Mecosta Coutny MI & 8th Brigade 5th Division Newaygo County MI training with snowmobiles on the Muskegon River north of Hardy Dam near Big Bend Park in Newaygo County MI. Use of snowmobiles over frozen terrain is preferred to snowshoeing or cross country skiing especially when covering long distances in winter. Use of canoes boats is necessary to cross the same area in summer & is quicker than traveling around it on land during the summer phase of riverine training.
