A Child Laughs World misery unknown Pure of heart and soul Gaity is sown. A Child Laughs Causing the angels to sing Tears well in my eyes What hope this brings A Child Laughs Inspiring the Fae to dance As long as he's merry Know there's a chance! A Child Laughs Bless the boys and girls If just for one moment All is right with the world! ©1999 Medea Moonfire |
Children are little empty sponges that soak up everything around them. If they are surrounded by love, they learn to be loving. If they see compassion, they learn to show compassion to others. If they see charity, they learn the importance of helping those less fortunate. The reality is, most babies are born loving, caring and compassionate. They're too pure to know any other way to treat another human being. Then they get old enough to know they have a choice....that they don't HAVE to be this way. This may start between 12 and 24 months. This is when the environment of the children will start to readily display itself in their behavior. It's from observation and experience that children learn hate, selfishness and blindness to the world around them. If you are a parent, a caregiver, or the relative or friend of a child, your behaviors will imprint unpon this child the actions that he or she will bring forth in his/her future. Now is the time to teach the child that love, charity, compassion and tolerance are very important in the lives of human beings. Hate, abuse, racism, religious persecution, etc... are NOT acceptable. Once negativity is instilled in a child, it's difficult to undo, and once this child grows into adulthood, it can be detrimental his/her life, or the lives of others he/she comes in contact with. This child will grow up and teach these negative habits to others, and so the cycle will flourish and grow. You have the proverbial blank canvas in your hands. Please paint with care....your brushstrokes will last a lifetime and impact an infinate amount of lives. |
