The broom (sometimes referred to as besom by magickal people) has been used for cleansing and protection for centuries. One would use a magickal broom to "sweep" the astral buildup out of the area before creating sacred space for worship or energy work. Typically the broom used for protection or cleansing is reserved for just this purpose. The broom has been hung on or over doors used to enter or leave the home or under or over windows to protect the home from unwanted spirits, entities, negative energies, etc. The broom has also been placed under the bed or under the pillow to protect the sleeper. |
