We all have our phases. Mine was Tolkien-related.
I love my media.
Network Television Shows
Movies

Example #1
I was watching tv when a commercial came on for a local car dealership. The owner of the dealership is a guy named Bob Tolkan. I wasn't really paying attention until the final screen came up: it had the word "Tolkan" in large red letters. I spent the next minute or so wondering why they had misspelled Tolkien; finally I realized that that commercial had nothing at all to do with Tolkien.

Example #2

This one just happened, and brought to mind story #1: I was driving past a parking lot structure near a university. There was a large sign out front with "PARKING LOT R" on it. Thing is, the "LOT R" was in large red letters and not spaced well, so I thought it was a big sign with "LOTR" on it. I see those letters, that's the conclusion I jump to.
On Friday, October 19, 2001, a letter that I wrote was read on The Late Show with David Letterman.

I was mentioned on
TV Guide's podcast! I'm the "Heather M." they start talking about around 0:46:48.

A question I asked was printed in
Entertainment Weekly, issue 781, page 65. Click here to read it.
Yeah, I'm almost famous.
A question I often get asked is: "Where in the world did you get 'MedevaM' from?";
Since this page is about me, I'll finally dignify that with a response. Medeva was a character on the PBS kids' show "Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego?" of which I was a great fan. She was a medieval sorceress (get it? Medieval, Medeva?) It also could be some type of pun on "Medea." I dunno.) When I first joined Yahoo! in 1997 or so, I needed a good, quick nickname, so Medeva popped into my head and I tried it. Unfortunately, I got the typical "Sorry, that nickname is already taken." Not to be daunted, I added an "M" at the end (my last name begins with an "M") and it was accepted. Henceforth, MedevaM was born.
And now you know the rest of the story.
Medeva...what now?
