INSTRUCTOR: Mr. Justin Rogers PERIOD: 3rd COURSE DESCRIPTION: The Horticulture course is designed to give the students an introductin to the world of Horticulture and Greenhouse management. Students will be educated on many varieties of plants and their role in agriculture. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to understand and apply basic knowledge, and concepts of Horticulture. COURSE CONTENT 1. Section 1 Introduction to Horticulture 2. Section 2 Plant Science 3. Section 3 Plant Propagation 4. Section 4 Greenhouse Management and Crops 5. Section 5 Integrated Pest Control 6. Section 6 Container Grown Plants 7. Section 7 Using Plants in Landscape 8. Section 8 Lawn and Turfgrass 9. Section 9 The Vegetable Garden 10. Section 10 The small Fruit Garden 11. GRADING Each section will have a test worth one hundred points. The daily assignments and homework will be worth half of your grade. GRADING SUMMARY 11 TESTS WORTH 100 POINTS EACH = 1,100 POINTS DAILY ASSIGNMENT AND HOMEWORK= 1,100 POINTS Example - 50 daily assignments and homework worth 100 points an assignment. I would take the percentage of points of 5,000 and that would be your daily grade. (This is just and example not necessarily will be conducted.) 1st 9 Weeks Grade = 45% 2nd 9 Weeks Grade = 45% Semester Test = 10% 3rd 9 Weeks Grade = 45% 4th 9 Weeks Grade = 45% Semester Test = 10% |
