Theater Underground
STUDENTS TO PRODUCE “THE AMERICAN DREAM”

Theater Underground is opening its season, in February 2002, with a
surreal play “The American Dream” by Edward Albee.   This play is Albee’s
first attempt with theater of the absurd; a movement of writers that were
unhappy with the realistic theater of their day.   This timeless play is
Albee’s response to the absurdity of the society of the late 50’s, and the
values and ideals that many Americans strive for.
The play is directed by Buirge Jones, who is currently a senior
Metropolitan Staten student, and performed by MSU and MCTC theater students
at the Metro Performance Studio (LL5) on the Minneapolis Campus, 730 Hennepin
Avenue (Hennepin & 8th Street).  The dates and times are:

Friday, February 1 at 7:30
Saturday, February 2 at 7:00
Sunday, February 3 at 2:00 & 7:00
Friday, February 8 at 7:30
Saturday, February 9 at 7:00

Seating is limited, and donation is suggested.   For more information
about the play and production, please call Rei Sudo, the Stage Manager, at
612-871-2081.
This program is supported by the Student Activities Funds, Theater
Underground and the Department of Media and Fine Arts-Theater.
