Topics include scales, modes, pitch systems, form, melody, harmony and counterpoint. Note: Students may register twice at each level (100-300-500) for credit. |

Experimental Music |
This course is designed for students who have had no musical training, those who have been involved in music making at some point in their lives, or those who are active musicians and feel they would like to take a fresh approach to music. Through basic music theory study, performance of musical scores and exercises from contemporary and experimental music, the class becomes familiar with new organizational concepts of music, such as indeterminacy, improvisation and graphic scores. The class gives participants first hand experience in music making and the creative process by working with voices, homemade instruments, found objects, instruments and electronics. Note: This course may be taken up to three times for credit. |
