Scenario

1 - This scenario places the legendary country of Atlantis in the present continent of Antarctic.

2 - Plato gave the correct dates: 9600 years, before his time. So, 12000 years ago. At the end of the last Ice Age.

3 - The measurements given in Plato’s Critias are correct. "As large as Asia (minor) and Libya (North Africa) together"*. Antarctica at its widest is 5,500 km across - Antarctica is 14 million square km in area, which is 50% larger than the USA

4 – The Atlanteans are not a race of kind and angelic people as many romantic visions lead us to believe. The Critias describe them as warlike colons, enslavers, and conquerors. The only power against which they could not prevail upon were the European kingdom of the North, described in the Critias as "Athenians".

5- A war of cataclysmic proportion destroyed Atlantis and resulted in a tilt of the planets axis. Previously, it had been almost strait, since, it is about 23 degree slanted.

6- The climate of Atlantis, now Antarctica, was mild and temperate, perhaps similar to that of New Zealand now.

7- There were high mountains in Atlantis, as described in the Critias. Antarctica is the world's highest continent. There is an active volcano, called Mount Erebus on Ross Island in Antarctica.

8 – Before the war the Atlanteans were already solidly implanted in many parts of the world, particularly in America. After the catastrophe and natives of Atlantis, spread to all the continent of the worlds.

10 – The Atlanteans were a "red" race of people, looking a lot like present American Indians. Nowadays, we would probably included them in the Caucasians race, but they were not of the same origin. Some people have theorised that the blood group O could be of Atlantean origin.

11 – the Atlantean system of writing probably ran from right to left. Like Arabic, Hebrew and Sanskrit.

12 - They were materialist and technical, good at mathematics.

Another scenario involves a meteor impact or another catastrophe causing a global climate change. Author Graham Hancock has put forward the theory that such a global change might have caused the polar ice caps to melt violently, within a few years, causing global floods, and earthquakes. A super volcanoes could also be the culprit

Psychic Edgar Cayce, who foretold the discovery of an Atlantean ruin at Bimini in 1968, also dated the Atlantis legend to 10,000 BC.

The Egyptian priest also told Solon, in circa 1,000 BC, that the Atlanteans arrived 9,000 years before.

*Though the icecap is vast and sluggish, it is cut through with speeding rivers of ice, whose origin nobody knows.
