Yes it is, ofcourse, it's not "cd-quality" recording, but pretty nice sound.

This part is about cheap recording I gonna tell U how I do it, try to give U some tips and hope to recieve some tips. (send to Meel4sjoert@hotmail.com)
With this kind of recording U can record different styles of music. Punk is easy ofcourse, and a lot of fun. For people with more patience, there is all kinds of rock, Metal, Classical, Blues everything......
Let's Start:
1) Instruments, I like using guitar bas drum and singin'. But U can use everything..
2) Amp's. For everything I use and amp. P.A. for singin'. Just better sound and u can get the sound U want, the 4 track is a shitty amp.
3 4-Track recorder, VERY VERY important. I have a Tascam. Search Ebay or whatever for one. Try to get the 414 mark 2, pretty good, very good price.
4) Room, to play in. I like a small room, that keeps the "Hollow" sound a little bit away from the drum. Record the singin'in the shower, bathroom, very good sound.
5) People to play with. U can record everything on your own, but it' a good thing to do with your friends.
6) Beer/Time/Food. Very important. U need beer. It's gonna take pretty long. Be relaxed and creative, beer helps, A LOT. Food is always good.
7) Mic's. It' OK to spend some money on mic's. Mic's are very important. Yes the 10 buck Sony's work, but they don' record the guitar/bas very good. Try to get a Shure 57 and record everything with it. Great sound. Yes 80 bucks, look for it at Ebay.com. (like I said Sony's work, just not as good.).
Learn how to play your instruments.
ofcourse, songs are not important yet. Just jam, and learn from each other. Acoustic electric doesn' matter. Rent a place with a drum and P.A.

Tascam 414.
Find a place. Use the place U were jammin' in before. Or use somebodies house/trailer (we used a trailer ones, worx great!) or your own room if U have to. Like I said mic's in the bathroom is good.
Duck-tape the matras to the windows, U don' want wake up your neightboor. If U rent a place U don' have this problem. Set the mic's. I always put one next to the amp if the amp is small. But even with a bigger amp, but it pretty close, so U get the right sound. One Mic for the Drums. hang it up, about 5.5 foot high in front of the drums, not to close. The last mic is for the bass. Put the mic a little bit further away from the bass-amp, U can always hear the Bass. Sing in Drum mic. or get another mic. for singin'.
Just jammm and while u'r jammin' set the volumes the right way. 2 ways of recording: Just play a song all together at ones, or record guitar first with the drummer as a metronome, then play drums, bas and sing.
